Hello... I'm Josette Blackburn.
About me...
I'm a surface pattern designer who creates designs for Textiles, Bedding, Wallpaper and Home Decor. I research and develop concepts, motifs, layouts, repeats, color palettes and colorways and edit designs.
A graduate of Fashion Institute of Technology, NYC - Fashion Design. I've worked extensively on both east and west coasts, and internationally to develop products for mass production manufacturing and mass market retailers.
I transitioned to Surface Patterns and Textile Design a decade ago. I've created original designs, edited client files and prepared files for production printing. I printed prototype yardage on wide format digital printers, using sublimation and direct printing methods in high-tech printing studios for assorted clients of startup companies, overseas textile mills, apparel manufactures, product development teams, and film studios.
My why...
I design to uplift and brighten the world. And to bring joy to the spaces where the designs reside. It's about beauty, joy, colors, textures and motifs that have a meaningful place in the world. It's about purpose, because every print has its own life and reason for being. I want to bring your vision to life!
